A documentary was created to honor Dr. Richard T. Silver, Founder of the Silver Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPN) Center, and Professor Emeritus at Weill Cornell Medicine.
It showcases and celebrates his remarkable career and the impact Dr. Silver had on the field of hematology. Dr. Silver’s lifelong commitment to patient care, research, and mentorship has shaped the field and disease trajectory of thousands of patients with leukemia and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).
In this documentary, Melton Medical Education interviewed Dr. Silver, and some of those who knew Dr. Silver best. Dr. Silver talked about his journey to becoming a doctor and his involvement in the hematology field over the last several decades.
Patients, mentees, and fellow physicians all shared their personal stories about Dr. Silver’s role as a physician, teacher, and friend. The documentary also features archival photos, historical footage, and personal mementos.
We are honored to have had Dr. Silver as a huge part of our Weill Cornell Medicine family and for the extraordinary work he did throughout his impressive multi-decade career to improve the lives of those impacted by blood cancers and myeloproliferative neoplasms.
