Dr. Andrew Schafer Visits Collaborators at Cornell Ithaca

Dr. Andrew Schafer, Director of the Silver MPN Center, visits Cornell University's main campus in Ithaca, New York as part of a research collaboration that is paving the way for advancements in polycythemia vera, a myeloproliferative neoplasm that causes excess production of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Polycythemia vera (PV) can impair blood flow to the brain by thickening the blood, so this research initiative aims to determine if this reduced cerebral blood flow can cause neural dysfunction in the form of cognitive decline or dementia.
